Del Prado Future

Future of Del Prado and Lantern District

The Lantern District is the commercial area primarily contained within or immediately adjacent to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Del Prado couplet. A plan for this area was approved in 2008 to establish a framework of policies and development standards that will help guide the transformation of the Lantern District into a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use district. That effort is underway with the installation of the Phase I street level improvements complete along PCH.

Dana Point TC Plan Final 6-08[1]

Del Prado, between Blue Lantern and Old Golden Lantern, is envisioned to be a street of continuous storefronts with lots of outdoor cafes, plaza areas and lush landscaping; in other words, a perfect place to shop, dine and people watch! Construction is underway for the Phase II Lantern District public improvements and beautification (more information below).

Significant private investment is needed to construct the buildings and create the critical mass necessary for a vibrant mixed-use district. A number of projects have been submitted to start the long journey of approval and construction (more information below).
